Lisa Tallman
Project Executive Director

Lisa Tallman brings social sector expertise in strategy, knowledge management, change management, technology and operations. Prior to joining the Navigator, she was VP of Data and Information Management at the National Office of Easterseals and spent ~10 years at YMCA of the USA National Office as their Sr. Director of Knowledge Management. She is currently an instructor for Northwestern University’s Master’s in Learning and Organizational Change graduate program. Lisa earned an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a Master’s Degree in English focused on Technical Communication from Eastern Michigan University. Working with the Navigator community reminds her of her father who grew up on a large farm and nurtures her family’s garden to this day.

Nick Davis
Managing Director, Communication & Engagement

Nick Davis is a storyteller, DJ, cook, and organizer committed to building compassionate relationships that create capacity for healing, nourishment, and agency for his people. He’s played many roles in the Chicago food system—restaurant cook, community organizer, communications strategist, policy advocate, volunteer coordinator. He is currently the Managing Director for Community Engagement and Communications at the Community Food Navigator and is responsible for increasing coordination in our regional food system, building power among growers of color, and telling stories that move us closer to liberation and life. Nick can be spotted chasing chickens on his friend’s farms and DJing cookouts and House music functions across Chicago.

Marilyn Catinella
Operations Director

Marilyn Catinella joined the Community Food Navigator in February 2022 and brings her enthusiasm for startups, infrastructure, administration, and work culture to her role. A serial catalyst for small and NGO organizations, Marilyn offers the combined experience and knowledge gleaned from over fifteen years in Fortune 500 companies, as well as a degree in Small and Entrepreneurial Business. A southside native, a lover of the arts, blessed with the company of her children, two dogs, and a cat, Marilyn delights in the adventure of growing possibilities in business, community and of course, the garden!

Sydney Coyle
Communications & Engagement Manager
she/her
Sydney Coyle is passionate about holding spaces for deep listening, care, and communal growth. At DePaul University (BA&MA), she spent her time immersed in movement building, environmental justice, and food justice studies. She comes to the Navigator an experienced event planner and curriculum developer from years mobilizing with youth and families at The Honeycomb Project. Sydney deepened her relationship with Chicago’s food ecosystem through work mapping Chicago’s 300 mile radius food-shed with MCERF, supporting the organization of the Chicago Food Justice Summit as a Summit Leader with CFPAC, and learning to grow with Gary Comer Youth Center. Sydney finds joy with her hands in the soil, learning to roller skate, and cooking with friends.

Israel Muñoz
Online Community Manager

Israel Muñoz Mireles is a proud Mexican immigrant, relentless learner, and reluctant marathoner. He has held a wide variety of roles in his professional career, but has found his passion in non-profit and community work. Most recently, he supported the immigrant community in Marshall Square as part of Latinos Progresando. Israel is devoted to fighting for a more just society, and believes there is untapped potential for technology to work for the people rather than for profit; he is excited to be a part of that work at the Community Food Navigator. When not working, you can find him scouring his local record store looking for a hidden gem, or running with his friends at the 606.

Josh Campbell
Full Stack Developer

Joshua Campbell is an experienced software developer driven to understand complex systems of all types. He has hands-on experience with every aspect of building and maintaining modern software applications as well as passing familiarity with gardening, animal husbandry, and haymaking. In his spare time, he enjoys cycling and rock climbing.

Malik Coburn
Communications & Engagement Specialist

Malik F. “Sol” Coburn is a student of social ecologies, learning teacher, and vinyl dj; hailing from Hyde Park in Chicago, IL. Malik has dedicated their life to cultivating regenerative spaces where care for the earth, people, and sharing resources is embraced and illuminated. At the University of Redlands – Johnston Center for Integrative Studies, he received a BA in Integrated Marketing & Sustainability, then a Permaculture Design Certificate with Earth Activist Training – leading to cultivating fun and culturally sensitive experiences, co-curation of events, and consulting with those who seek to find bridges in their daily practices to processes in nature. Malik’s favorite plant is Mullein, as it is fuzzy and brings clarity to the lungs.
